Two decades of elite tax counsel — from Big Four to the boardroom.
Rich is a dual-credentialed tax attorney and CPA with over 20 years of experience leading corporate tax and finance functions at some of the country's most complex organizations. At Neil Jesani Advisors, he holds two distinct and complementary roles: he heads the firm's Private Client Practice — delivering engineered, multi-year tax strategies to high-income executives, business owners, equity holders, and investors — and serves as the firm's Chief Financial Officer, overseeing NJA's internal financial operations and reporting.
Rich's professional foundation was built at Ernst & Young, where he developed deep expertise in tax compliance, planning, and financial reporting before moving into senior in-house leadership roles. He went on to serve as Head of Tax and senior finance executive at a series of large, multi-entity organizations — including LL Flooring (a publicly traded national retailer), Stericycle (a Fortune 500 company), and FULLBEAUTY Brands, where he built and led the corporate tax function from the ground up over nearly a decade. Across those roles, he oversaw federal, state, and international tax compliance, managed external audit relationships, directed treasury and cash management, and served as the senior tax voice on corporate restructurings and transactions. At FULLBEAUTY he also served briefly as Interim General Counsel — a distinction that reflects the rare legal dimension he brings to financial advisory work.
What sets Rich apart is the combination: a CPA with Big Four roots, a licensed attorney admitted in New York and Virginia, and an executive who has owned the tax and finance function at public and private companies across multiple industries. At NJA, that translates into private client counsel that is technically rigorous, legally grounded, and informed by the judgment of someone who has sat in the chair and lived with the outcomes.
His client work spans comprehensive tax planning and compliance, entity structuring, multi-jurisdictional and cross-border tax strategy, and IRS representation and audit defense. He also served as Assistant Professor of Law and Taxation at Indiana University, reflecting a longstanding commitment to advancing the field beyond the engagement room.
Rich holds a B.S. in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from Miami University, and a Juris Doctor from West Virginia University College of Law.
